Process Log (8/31 - 9/4)

Goals From Last Week: This was the first week of working on my TPSP project, so there were no previous goals.

Mentor: I have not yet finalized my topic or research question so I don't want to contact anyone about mentoring and then have my ideas change and rescind the request. Despite this I did do further investigation into finding a mentor for a certain project idea I drew from my umbrella topic about poisonous plants. There is a garden in England which includes a section soley dedicated to plants that can kill. I have the general email for the garden management as well as the email of the PR manager, Jenny Hayes. I have not yet contacted anyone but once I have finalized my topic I will look furth into contacting a mentor.

Research/Product: This week I researched possible umbrella topics that could provide projects that meet my interests. I have come up with a possible umbrella topic (Environmental Science) and thought about several projects that could be done within each of them. So far my favorite is the idea of creating an app for Texas/the Houston area with a key for indentifying poisonous plants and what to do in case of ingestion. This would take a fair amount of time to do, especially given my disticnt lack of knowledge in creating apps, but it interests me and can be applied in situations outside of TPSP.

Goals For Next Week: Next week I plan to narrow down my project ideas to get only 2 or 3 that really interest me. Then I will be able to research them more in depth and search for suitable mentors. I hope to have a list of suitable mentors for each possible project by the end of next week as well as an idea of which project I would like to do.
