Process Log 10/26 - 10/30

Goals from Last Week: I accomplished all of my goals from last week by getting in touch with Mrs. Crockom and setting an official date and time for our meeting (this Saturday) over FaceTime. I have also compiled a list of questions and topics to review during our meeting to make it as productive as possible.

Mentor: As I mentioned above, I got in touch with my mentor and set up a meeting this week. Some of the questions I plan to ask are: Is there a policy in Texas to set aside school time/resources to teach poison education?, What are some of the resources available to schools and parents online for poison safety education?, Are there any AAPC programs that cater directly to elementary school students (i.e. go to schools and give presentations, send info directly to schools to pass out), What do you consider the necessary characteristics (must-haves) of an educational program? Besides asking these questions I plan to talk with her about some possible product ideas and the issues involved with each so that I have some idea of what to do.

Research: This week I studied to NOAA article I found mainly and tried to develop a general outline for an educational program. I also searched for more statistics that relate specifically to my targeted age groups so that I can create a more relevant project. I also need to research more about preexisting programs within HISD to make sure that my product will be relevant.

Goals for Next Week: Since next week is my free research week, I hope to nearly finish up with my data collecting and begin to develop a plan for the next semester and the development of a product.
