Process Log 11/16 - 11/20

Goals from Last Week: I didn't complete my goals from last week because the product proposal has not been returned yet so I don't know what corrections I need to make. I did however email Mrs. Watson and am awaiting her response so I can better develop my product.

Mentor: I didn't do much with Mrs. Crockom this week but I did email her asking to schedule the second meeting for this cycle for sometime this next week, or if she is too busy over the holidays, the week after that. I am waiting for her response and have already created some questions I would like to ask her about my research and what sources would be the best to include in my product since there is so much information available.

Research: This week I focused on narrowing down my information pool to eliminate repetitions in information or unecessary or incorrect information that I don't want in my product. This has been a problem since there are a ridiculous number of sites and sources on poison safety and while most of them say the same things sometimes there are discrepencies. I also looked for more information on how to develop lesson plans and got some tips such as: create specific learning objectives and a way to test if they have been completed. This is necessary in order to show the impact of my product and I am trying to come up with ways to develop a method of testing poison safety knowledge. Currently I think the best way would be to create an online assesment for students to take before and after the lessons (have them take it first in their first period and then again in their last class) to see if the scores improved.

Goals for Next Week: My goals for next week are to begin to put together an outline of my lesson plan with at least a listing of what activities will be in each class in each grade. I also want to further investigate how to best measure impact, especially by asking my mentor and Mrs. Watson.
